Free Anti Spam Software

The junk mail filtering within hotmail hasn’t helped at all; it falsely flags more good mail than bad. I’ve tried using Outlook Express with a spam filter, with little results. Maybe I have to keep trying that……..?
Anyway, I’d love to have a way to control spam without having to use a pop3 client. Any tips?

Exactly what does syntax error mean? I’ve found legitimate email in my spam filter in Outlook Express and cannot get it released because of this. I get the same message in Yahoo. The sender said he would be sending a PDF document. Any help?
The email address is exactly as typed. No spaces, not dots, anything. Could it be the type of document? PDF?

For unknown reasons, the yahoo mail service seems to have arbitrarily decided to mark a whole lot of my emails from friends as SPAM (in the last 3 - 4 months). The problem is I didn’t even know this happened or was happening because I usually use OUTLOOK Express and very rarely login via web. These are never in the outlook express SPAM folder, its only in the Yahoo-mail Spam folder. While doing a quick check in the SPAM folder (web login) I found a whole lot of good emails (I haven’t touched the SPAM filter setting in 3 yrs). I marked these as NOT SPAM. That didn’t do the trick, because lo and behold —few weeks later I checked and there were the same emails ! I did the NOT SPAM thing again. Thats not fixing this ! I found a friends email in there again tonight —I’ve already marked him as NOT SPAM about 4 times in the last 10 days. Do you know if this is a BUG ? Its never happend before, and its very annoying…

Since changing from Tesco to Yahoo for my email I requested the resumption of a regular bulletin from the Lawyers Christian Fellowship on issues involving new laws that were being passed by the UK Government that go right against christian ethics. The first time it arrived as junk. I told the server that it was not junk. About a week later i got anoth one from the same organisation. It also went into the junk mail section.

This never happened on Tesco’s email service.

Why is yahoo so biased against Christians? Who are these faceless and unaccountable people who run Yahoo?

I hope this question doesn’t get scrubbed off before anyone can read it.

After two answers (thanks!) - how about those ones that ask for a response/action from the sender to verify not a spam sending robot? Or aren’t they foolproof?

How is it that the e-mail “spam filter” does not filter spam despite being set to allegedly do just that and go into a bulk folder where it is supposed to stay until I review it! I am cheesed of with spam coming through to my regular Outlook Express e-mail.

Spam identified on outlook express does not get fed back to ATT Yahoo

I have tried to set up the spam filter but it doesnt seem to work. Any other suggestions?

It keeps getting more and more every week, currently 150 + spams per day. Do I need to close the account and get a new email address or is there another way? I’m with Outlook Express. How about if I dont use the account for 6 months, will the spam die down a bit, or will it just keep on increasing, ad infinitum? If I add senders to my blocked sender list the same spams just keep coming, presumably from multiple addresses
